Hans Schmidt's El Cid 289 Cobra was a tough competitor on the drag strip. CSX 2248 took the A/Sports honors at the 1965 AHRA Winternationals with a 10.86 ET @ 124.36 MPH.
i remember this car when it was light blue and called the HEELS BELLS BEFORE HANS CHANGED THE NAME OF HIS CAR TO EL SID, RON GERSTNER OF WILLIAMSVILLE NY DID ALOT OF PAINT WORK FOR HANS AND HIS CARS, RON STILL HAS A SHOP IN WILLIAMSVILLE NY A SUBURB OF BUFFALO
Was more like 11:55 / 121.40 MPH, El Cid Broke into the 10's in mid 1965 and stayed there until it retired in 1967.
