Lew Arrington's Brutus was a serious contender at the dawn of the funny car era. In 1965 Brutus was powered by one of Mickey Thompson's Hemi-headed Pontiac monsters. Unfortunately the days of Poncho powered Pontiacs were drawing to a close and Lew would soon shift to a 392 Chrysler.

1965 was a very good year for Bill Lawton. Following back to back Stock Eliminator titles at both the NHRA and AHRA Winternationals, Lawton took out Handicap Eliminator in York driving the Tasca Ford A/FX Mustang.
