Peculiar Polystyrene
The Atomic Age produced some strange model kits but this one must rate as the weirdest I have ever seen. Just don't fire one of your scale guided missiles into the reactor or you may generate a parental meltdown.

Almost Stock
1965 Super Stock NationalsYork , Pennsylvania.
1965 was a very good year for Bill Lawton. Following back to back Stock Eliminator titles at both the NHRA and AHRA Winternationals, Lawton took out Handicap Eliminator in York driving the Tasca Ford A/FX Mustang.

What Is Right With This Picture ?
The Cobra is yellow, not red or blue.
It has Cragar SS wheels, not fake Halibrands.
It has speed equipment decals on the bodywork.
The doors are sporting reflective psychedelic signwriting.
There are no sidepipes.
It is racing on a dragstrip.
See how many more you can come up with .....

Racing In Paradise
A rare occasion when the driver was as stunning as the car. Unfortunately my powers of vintage Ferrari detection are decidedly lacking, so I won't embarrass myself further by trying to identify the vehicle in question.

Foglights & Masking Tape

I guess I'm a nut for details, but what I love about the period race cars that I post incessantly, is their individuality. Take for instance George Reed and Dan Gerber's Cobra in the above photo at Sebring in 1965. CSX 2189 is sporting an array of driving lights that look more like an insect's antennae than any useful form of illumination. The half-sweep tachometer mounted up high on the dash is another unique touch that gives the car its own personality.
Details, details, details .....
